Charlie Baldwin aka 'Cocktail Party Effect' drops an icy bomb of an EP, back on Tectonic home ground, following on from his excellent eponymous debut album for the label in 2020.

‘As The Crow Flies’ opens the EP with a mysterious, ominous feel, setting context for an onslaught of distorted beats and tech-hardened sonic warfare. Running at 135bpm, this track will stand out in DJ sets, ripping a hole in the dance floor to leave a trail of smoke behind it as the subs swoop low.

‘Sun Down’ takes us into more hi-tech electro territories, rolling out at 136bpm with finesse and a healthy dose of electronic squelch. ‘Collapse’ rides a deep and tribal, sub-driven 150bpm soundscape while ‘Invert’ splits the difference between fizzing Detroit electro and UK garage, loaded with plenty of bass weight.

The EP closes up with the eerie tones of ‘Mood’, which takes the tempo up and the temperature down, navigating alien landscapes with intricate percussive movements.
